Elena Gaponenko comes from a family of musicians and began playing the piano and cello at the age of four.
As a performer, she has received numerous awards at international competitions on both instruments and has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician at prestigious concert halls and venues, including the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Gewandhaus Leipzig, Mirabell Palace in Salzburg, and the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow.
At the heart of her artistic work is the exploration and communication of the musical ideas and philosophical foundations behind composers and their works.
Her solo recordings have been released by the labels Genuin (Leipzig) and Oehms Classics (Munich), receiving widespread critical acclaim.
For many years, Elena Gaponenko has played an active role in shaping the cultural landscape through her commitment to classical music and the promotion of emerging talent.
In 2009, she founded the concert series “Weltstars der Zukunft” (“Stars of Tomorrow”). As a Classic Ambassador, she supported the Sir Peter Ustinov Foundation. She currently directs the concert series “Tête-à-Tête mit musikalischer Prominenz” in Königswinter.
Alongside her performing career, she is dedicated to instrumental education and teaches at renowned conservatories and music academies across Europe, including institutions in Vienna, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt am Main, Bremen, and Berlin.
